LISKEARD captain Debbie Drinkell was delighted with her team's performance as the Cougars overcame Falcons' second string, 28-17, at Lux Park in Division Six of the Cornwall Netball League.

Sid the skipper: 'The whole team really put into practice what coach Rudi Britz had been teaching us.

'Some of the edge of the circle play was really good and the defence was much tighter as well.'

Following a six-week break from League action, the Cougars stormed into a 17-11 half-time lead against their Redruth-based visitors.

Liskeard made changes for the third quarter, with Debbie Drinkell coming on at GD (goal defence) and Lynn Webb moving to GK (goalkeeper).

The hosts took a seven-goal advantage into the fourth quarter, but were soon pegged back to five by a determined Falcons team.

This was not to last, however, as Cougars closed out the match with some brilliant possession play.

The 'Player of the Match' award went to Louise Piner for her consistency.
