Premier Division
Callington v. Falmouth
THIS defeat means Callington's battle for Premier Division survival hinges on the last game of the season – a daunting trip to newly-crowned champions St Just.
Falmouth batted first and got off to a steady, if cautious, start, with Mark Johnson and Adrian Noott putting on 38 in 15 overs, before Noott offered a chance to James Long at short leg off Jim Shorten.
Johnson and Anep Revandkar added another 47, when Johnson was caught by Tom Dinnis off Matt Robins for 39, and Revandkar went on to get 38 before he mis-timed a drive and was caught by Adrian Robins off his brother's bowling. Anthony Angove hit two fours and a six in his 23 from 21 balls, when he was caught by Dinnis in the deep off Aaron Jewiss. After that, Stefan Churcher batted well to hold Falmouth's innings together, as Robins carved through the lower order to finish with six for 52 from 15 overs. Churcher refused to yield and he remained on 36 as Callington were set a gettable 189 to win.
