Callington jockey James Best celebrated ‘the biggest day of my racing career’ when steering Pilgrims Bay to victory in the BetBright Handicap Chase at Kempton yesterday.

The 26-year-old rode the seven-year-old to collect a £100,000 prize.

Best said: ‘It’s days like this that mean so much. You’ve no idea how much it means and how grateful I am to be given an opportunity on a day like this.’

Trainer Neil Mulholland said: ‘I’m delighted to give James Best a good winner. He is a hard worker who rides out on a regular basis. Hopefully he will get more chances.’
