Sailing Club cadets, many of whom only started racing dinghies this year, are already making an impact on both the local and regional sailing scene.

They sent a team to the RYA Feva Frenzy weekend at Siblyback Lake in challenging conditions.

Two cadets, Tamsyn Hills and Danni Middleton, have been selected for the RYA Topper South West Zone squad, which is one of the initial coaching groups for potential members of the Great Britain Olympic Team.

Other Saltash Sailing Club achievements were celebrated at the Port of Plymouth Sailing Association prize giving.

Dave Oliver with Xtorsion8 won the Jim Burton Memorial Trophy for his success in this season's Ullman Sails Race Series, with Neil Trathen's Elusive as runner up.

Malcolm Wood was awarded the Beckerleg Salver for his contribution to the Regatta and Nina Lillie received the Molly Harvey Rose Bowl in recognition of her endeavour and involvement in sailing in the port this year.

From Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club, Steve Wassell's conspicuous and outstanding achievements in sailing were celebrated when he accepted the Sir Francis Drake Statuette as the PPSA Yachtsman of the Year.
