LISKEARD Athletic's new manager, Martin Burgess, has a mammoth task on his hands after practically all of last season's first-team squad departed the Lux Park outfit.

Said Burgess: 'I'm obviously disappointed to have lost so many of last season's squad, and our short-term goals have now changed.

'If the same squad had remained, then I would have looked to add a couple of new faces and push for a top-four place.

'But now it's a case of rebuilding – and our top-four aim might be pushed back a year or two.

'Kevin Harley and myself have spent a lot of hours talking to new players and are hopeful of announcing several new signings in the next couple of weeks.'
