LISKEARD-LOOE took on Cornwall and Devon League table-toppers Tavistock in their final home fixture of the season.

It was also the East Cornwall club's annual sponsors' day, which was celebrated with a pre-match lunch in the clubhouse.

The game was preceded by a minute's silence for young local sportsman Adam Billing, who sadly died the previous week.

The Lions pressed hard for early points, but the Tavistock defence held firm – and the visitors went ahead in the 20th minute courtesy of a converted try.

Back came the hosts, and on 35 minutes they were awarded a penalty which No.8 Baz Hocking slotted to make the half-time 7-3.

Flanker Lewis Elliott touched down for a try in the second period, which went unconverted for an

8-7 advantage.

However, ten minutes later Liskeard gave away a kickable penalty and were behind again.
