SALTASH opened their Cornwall and Devon League season with a solid performance and victory against a determined Old Plymothian and Mannamedians side at Moorlands Lane.

Right from the off, the Ashes looked to impose themselves on an OPMs team who featured a number of personnel changes from the Lockie Cup encounter, five months earlier.

Tod Crofts missed an early penalty opportunity for the hosts just three minutes in.

Straight away, OPMs put pressure on the Saltash line, before their hosts managed to capitalise on a turnover and run the ball out of danger.
