The Ivybridge coach considered that this was the best performance his side had produced all season and certainly nothing less would have earned their victory. The Liskeard forwards were outstanding, constantly driving the home side backwards with an excellent display of rucking and mauling. There was no doubt that Ivybridge had the superior backs, but with the Liskeard forwards in such dominant mood they had little chance to threaten the visiting defence.
Tom Rawlings was able to give Liskeard the lead from a typical forward charge and not long after when Ivybridge tried to clear their line, Keiran Stribley was able to collect the ball and outpace the defence to score in the corner.
The home side did manage to keep Liskeard at bay with some good kicking and eventually found themselves in the visitors 22 while the Liskeard pack in defence mode and were able to stretch them far enough to score in the corner.
Ivybridge had the strong wind at their backs in the second half and made very good use of it with long kicks, keeping the ball away from the Liskeard forwards and giving their backs the opportunity to test the visiting defence. The score was tied after the ball bounced wickedly into the Ivybridge winger's hands who then had a clear run to the corner.
The home side were certain that they were going to score when their left wing seemed to be in at corner, only to be stopped by Ned Mann with the best tackle of the day and possibly of the season. Sadly, due to more than a hint of offside at the following scrum, the Liskeard clearance was charged down and Ivybridge scored. Just before full time, more of the same gave the home side their fourth score and a total that belied the evenness of the game and the dominance of the Liskeard pack.
