Nominate your Sports Personality of The Year
Don't forget to nominate someone for either of our two super new awards, open to all sporting personalities in the Cornish Times area.
The Cornish Times Sports Personality of the Year is an award for seniors and a separate one for juniors (aged 16 and under), open to to all local sports men, women, boys and girls who have made their mark in their chosen sport and perhaps brought honours to the area.
Several outstanding sportspeople have already been nominated including Dean Notman (Pool), Martin Elworthy (Clay Pigeon Shooting), Alison Bate (Clay Pigeon Shooting), Stuart Taylor (Rugby), Jon Ashton (Football), Victoria Eames (Tennis), Samuel Matthews (all rounder), Darren Lock (Snooker), Marian Sutton (Athletics), Terry Wright (Transplant Athletics games), Guy Stroud (Athletics), Sam Matthews (Cross country/ football), Mike Cook (darts), Jamie Hine (Cricket), Pam Hamley (Short Mat Bowls), William Doidge (Pool/ Snooker), Daniel Billing (football, cross country), Liam Storey (Tennis) and Dan Mavin (all Rounder), Roger Quaintance (Football), Feira Merritt (Gymkhana horse riding). There is still time for more nominations. The eventual winners will be announced at a special evening later in the year.
There are many local sportsmen and women who may not have made it big time but are winners in their own chosen fields.
