WHAT a marvellous evening's entertainment was had by those attending the concert at Carnglaze Caverns, St Neot, on September 11. Where on earth were all the young musicians from your local schools? The National Youth Jazz Orchestra are regularly voted the number one top big band in the UK. They merit all our support. There is no point having a quality youth orchestra performing in your area, if the schools from Liskeard, Looe, Saltash, Callington, Torpoint and Bodmin, give it the cold shoulder by their non-attendance. The music students from these schools were denied the opportunity, which could have been a life changing experience for some, to hear music performed to the very highest level. If NYJO were performing in say The Royal Albert Hall London it would undoubtedly be a sell-out. On Saturday, September 25, I will again be travelling down from Taunton for The Music Festival at Carnglaze Caverns in aid of the local hospice. Performing on this occasion will be the Bodmin Town Band, voted on several occasions the number one big band in the West of England, the Plymouth Area Police Choir, and a star soprano Nicola Kirsch. I hope that the charity event in aid of your local hospice will be a sell-out, it deserves to be. I have bought tickets and definitely will be there.
