A young author has won praise for her work in a national writing competition.

Lily Davies, who is from Gunnislake, was ‘highly commended’ by the panel in the Wicked Young Writers Award, whose head judge is How to Train Your Dragon author Cressida Cowell.

Lily’s short story Lost In A Crowd of Daffodils describes a brief interaction between a young woman and the homeless man who sells her a flower picked from a nearby park.
