In the DJM Greville St Cleer U-14s played their last away game at Eggbuckland Com-munity College against Activate, and after a quite good performance went down 5-2.
St Cleer started the match brightly, and matched their opponents, but midway through the half Activate took the lead. St Cleer created chances for Craig Walton, Craig Hamson and Martyn Hake, before Hake latched onto a long goal kick from keeper Robin Brown and lobbed the ball over the oncoming Activate keeper to equalise. In an end to end first half Activate hit the post and bar, while Hamson also hit the post when well placed. Activate then took a fortunate lead when St Cleer keeper Brown made an excellent save only to see the ball loop over him and into the net.
St Cleer started the second period as they did the first, but they conceded an unnecessary corner which resulted in an Activate player heading them 3-1 in front. St Cleer pressed forward and Hake outstripped the Activate defence down the left, cut inside and hammered the ball past the keeper to pull one back, but late in the game, St Cleer pressed for the equaliser, lost their shape and conceded two late goals.
This week St Cleer entertain second placed SB Frankfort at 12.30 pm.
A plucky Southgate were unable to hold a rampant Saltash team in DJM U-12 Hood who, after settling slowly, turned in a fine attacking performance in their away fixture at Launceston and Skipper Sam Pomeroy with five topped the scoring with the other goals being added by Todd Croft with three Ashley Parramore two, Adrian Yearley two, Nick Souness, Stuart Clark, Christian Mackintosh, and Lee Pollard. Saltash won 16-2.
It could have been more but for some fine saves from the Southgate keeper and the spirit shown by his team mates who never stopped trying. This was a fine all round performance from the Saltash team who now seem to be playing some good football for Manager Mark Yearley after having a tough season in the top DJM Under 12 Division.

St Cleer entertain Liskeard in mini soccer
In October it was just the one U-10 game. Come April and its two at U-10 and one at U-9. Mini soccer is doing the business with the teams developing. This time, with the under l0s sharing a victory apiece, both squads stand primed to step up for an 11-a-side decider.
The opening skirmish saw the St Cleer boys strolling to convincing win over their undermanned opponents. There was space aplenty for Ben, Damien and Doug to impress with good positional play and cool finishing. For the visitors Joseph ran strongly and Nicky kept goal with enthusiasm.
The second game was very different as Liskeard's reinforcements arrived. This time every inch of space was having to be fought for, and clear shooting chances were at a premium. It was going to need something special and Liskeard had the man - young Dan Ruark thumping the goals of the afternoon to earn spectacular redress.
With the under 9s it was St Cleer, with Simon prominent, who deservedly shaded a 2-1 victory. For Liskeard tenacious Sam Julian caught the eye - a Denis Law in the making! Also worthy of mention was the St Cleer 'keeper.
