Pensilva Youth entertained Prince Rock on Saturday in DJM U-15 Defiance looking to keep their undefeated record intact. They did this and more in an easy 6-1 victory.

Trying out a new formation for this match Pensilva failed to take charge as normal and had a battling first half. It was Pensilva though who took the lead, Luke Noel-Johnson cutting in from the right wing and then blasting the ball in the top corner of the net.

Prince Rock to their credit fought on against their higher class opponents and for their efforts got a goal when a rare goal keeping fumble from Stuart Ralph made the striker his chance to level. Pensilva then had to play the rest of the match without solid defender Doug Lloyd after a collision with a team mate forced him to leave the field.

The second half was all one way traffic after a tactical change and moving to a 4-4-2 formation. Mike Ruark had an amazing second half in which he scored a hat-trick, his pace and shot power too much for the Prince Rock defence. Alex Martin also got on the score sheet a sliding left shot squeezing in the corner from just inside the box. Lee Greenway again hit the net after a through ball from Alex Martin from inside his own half set Lee free, he took his time and toed it in the bottom corner.

The defence of James Martin, Paul Caers, Chris Shrubshore and Robert Pickstone never had much to do but still did the job, but are yet to keep a clean sheet! A good win and hopefully they can repeat this performance tomorrow against Looe.

Weather conditions made for an appalling DJM U-14 Grenville game in terrible conditions.

Weston Mill adapted better to the conditions than Saltash youth. This was apparant straight from the kick off when Weston Mill, with the help of the wind and the driving rain went quickly into a two goal lead, which Saltash Youth were never able to recover from. Youth created chances but as with so many before, they were wasted.

To be honest, for the conditions, Weston Mill adapted the best and played well whereas Saltash Youth were well below their best.

After 25 minutes the referee led the boys off the pitch because the rain had got so bad that you had trouble seeing anything.after this the game continued and so it stayed until half time. The referee could and probably should have abandoned the game but decided to continue.

In the second half Saltash Youth had no answer to the forceful play of Weston.Whatever they tried seemed to go wrong. They had chances, which were squandered or the ball bounced wrong, there was no answer to it. A penalty miss meant it was not to be Saltash's day.

Weston Mill scored four more times and deserved their 6-0 score line. Saltash's Barry Horne was both opponents and man of the match.

Pensilva travelled to Elburton in DJM U-16 Rodney and came home with a well deserved 4-2 victory.

Stuart Taylor, who was playing his first match for 'Pens', capped a fine debut with a goal after just 60 seconds. The visitors created a number of chances in the opening 20 minutes but failed to increase the lead. This allowed the home side to grow in confidence and they equalised when the Pensilva defence failed to clear from a corner.

This spurred the visitors to up the pace of the game and the midfield began to play fine attacking football with good link up play. Indeed it was this that led to the 'Pens' second goal when Anthony Chapman was set free down the right, his telling cross was headed down by Wayne Downing and struck into the net by Phil Lucas. This gave them a 2-1 lead at the break.

After the interval, Pensilva continued to dominate and Joel Key scored his first goal for the club when he slotted the ball home from the six yard line. The visitors kept up the momentum and at times lay seige to the Elburton goal and only the woodwork and the 'keeper kept the score at 3-1. Eventually the pressure paid off when Downing supplied a great cross from the left and Lucas rose above the defence to head his second goal of the game.

This effectively sealed the points for the 'Pens' and despite a late consolation goal from the home side, they ran out worthy winners. Although there were some notable individual performances, this was in fact a fine all round display from Pensilva. Opp. M.O.M. Gerry Richards.
