WORK will start on the £180,000 refurbishment of Lux Park Leisure Centre's swimming pool, spa, sauna and steam room next week. The facilities will close from Monday, October 4 to allow for construction work to take place, reopening in early January. The overhaul will include relining the pool, renewing the pool surrounds, replacing the sauna and steam room equipment, refurbishing the spa and installing new lighting throughout the pool hall and changing rooms. The poolside changing rooms will also be undergoing a facelift with new floors and cubicles, while a new, separate changing area for schools using the leisure centre for swimming lessons will also be built. Councillor John Turner, Caradon District Council's Caring for People portfolio holder said: 'Improving local people's health is one of Caradon's top priorities, and the investment in Lux Park Leisure Centre's facilities will pay dividends for the health and well-being of the district's residents. 'We're certain that leisure centre users will welcome the substantial improvements in quality and would like to thank them for their patience during the refurbishment.' All of Lux Park's other facilities will operate as normal.
