A walk over to Looe Island became a day of wildlife discovery for families who made the adventurous trip during a very low Spring tide.

Daniel Provost was with his wife Amy and son Isaac when they noticed something unusual happening at their feet - and on closer inspection, it turned out to be a baby small-spotted catshark emerging from its egg sac.

The family waited until the fish had completely hatched and took a photo just before it swam out to sea.

There was a lot of other rockpool life to see for those who walked to the island, and we’ll have a page with photos in tomorrow’s Cornish Times
