The success of Dexter classes at the 1999 Royal Cornwall Show has been rewarded with the addition of an extra class at this Summer's show (June 8, 9 and 10).
Holosteins also have an extra class - ten in total - and supermarket chain Waitrose has announced its sponsorship of the Ayrshire cattle section.
A new special prize in the dairy classes, to be known as the Davidstow Creamery Trophy, sponsored by Dairy Crest, commemorates 50 years of cheesemaking at David-stow.
Dexters gained their own classes for the first time at last year's Royal Cornwall. Response was so good that classes have been subdivided this year. Support came from across the South West and the organisers hope that there will be at least an equal amount of enthusiasm at the Millennium show.
