Excited children waving Union flags welcomed Sophie, Countess of Wessex, to Saltash.

The countess was paying her first visit to the town to open the £355,000 eco-friendly facility at the Bishop Cornish Education Centre.

On arriving, she was escorted by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Lady Mary Holborow, and met the mayor of Saltash Sue Hooper and other town and county figures.
