As part of its commitment to the Cornwall Community Covenant, Cornwall Council is launching a special section on its website to provide information to members of the Armed Forces and their families in Cornwall about the support and advice which is available to them.
Earlier this year the Leader of Cornwall Council John Pollard and Andrew Wallis, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Young People and the Lead Member for Armed Forces, formally re-affirmed the Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces Cornwall Community Covenant at a special ceremony attended by representatives of the Royal British Legion, RNAS Culdrose, HMS Raleigh, RAF St Mawgan and SSAFA.
The Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between the civilian community and its local Armed Forces Community.
The new area on the website - www.cornwall.gov.uk/communitycovenant – went live yesterday and contains information on the Covenant, as well as advice on where to go for advice on help on issues such as housing, education, funding and grants, training and jobs.
It also has information about events and activities targeted at members of the Armed Forces community and will continue to be developed, says the council.
