POLICE have been warning drivers to take care on this morning’s commute (Tuesday, February 16) after black ice caused multiple traffic accidents yesterday morning.

The coldest night of the winter so far was forecast for last night, and although Cormac gritters were out from 4pm yesterday, many minor roads may have been treacherous.

Across the Devon and Cornwall force area, police said they had reports of 30 minor accidents on untreated roads yesterday. The B3252 Looe-Horningtops road was especially badly hit.

Police are advising drivers to leave extra time for journeys in icy conditions.
