A TEAM of more than 20 volunteers took to the streets of Dobwalls on Saturday for the annual village litter pick.

It’s the first time in three years the event, organised by the parish council, has taken place because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The volunteers included parish councillors, the local Cornwall Councillor Jane Pascoe, teachers from the village primary school and members of the Wombling Free litter-picking group.

By the end of the pick they’d collected what amounted to a bag full each of rubbish of all sorts.

Vice-chairman of the parish council Tracey Kitto, one of the main organisers, said: “It was great to see such an enthusiastic bunch of litter pickers getting to work with their grabbers and we managed to finish just before the rain started.

“However, it was a shame to find so much litter strewn around the village. Let’s hope next year we’ll pick up a record low numbers of bags.”
