The Royal Institute for Deaf People is calling for ten people from the Liskeard area to join 100,000 others from across the country who will volunteer their services for Make A Difference Day tomorrow (October 30). The Liskeard volunteers are needed to help create a low maintenance sensory garden at the RNID's local care home at Pendean Court. Those who volunteer will have the opportunity to do something for their community, and meet their neighbours. Jackie Rowe, Care Services Manager at Pendean Court, said: 'A quarter of RNID's work is aimed at providing care for deaf people with additional needs, with a view to helping to lead ordinary lives which are fulfiled and supported by local communities. 'By becoming involved, people living local to the home will help us achieve this important objective. 'For people who are deaf, a colourful and tactile garden would involve all the senses the residents can enjoy. 'A low maintenance garden will ensure it remains a pleasing place all year round' For more information on volunteering at Pendean Cour Jackie Rowe can be contacted by e-mail at [email protected]">[email protected], or by phoning 01579 340201.
