VANDALS have targeted a football club for the fourth time in 12 months.
The latest incident, which happened between Sunday, March 8, and Tuesday, March 10, follows a similar vandal attack on Polperro Athletic Football Club around three weeks ago.
Club secretary Matt Pengelly said: 'The most recent events have seen windows in both of the clubhouses smashed, small fires started, advertising boardings torn down and a door kicked in – a pointless exercise as nothing of value is left in either building overnight.
'The primary school and local holiday camp have also been targeted during this time.
'As we are a small club led by volunteers, all of the work and maintenance is carried out by the players and committee, as is all of the fundraising that we rely on to keep the club going.
'The players are very frustrated by all of the damage and the cost to the club so far is in the region of £700 – a sum which the club cannot afford to incur in the current financial climate.' Polperro AFC, runs two community teams and is hoping to establish junior teams for local youngsters.
The club, which suffered from vandal attacks last summer, is celebrating its 100th year and will be holding a centenary celebration in the summer.
