POLICE are appealing to witnesses following an attack on Callington School and Community College that left more than 20 windows smashed. A police spokesman said officers were studying CCTV footage from the school in an effort to identify those responsible. The damage was caused between 5.30pm on Sunday and 9.30pm the same evening and was spread out across the site, with the vandals targeting the pavillion, the training school area and the science labs. A spokesman for the school said: 'They got nothing out of it as nothing was stolen and we are frustrated as it is just mindless vandalism. It is mostly glass that needs to be replaced and there has been some damage done to some metal framing, but we don't know how much it will cost to repair as yet. Some classrooms had to be closed while we cleared up, but we worked quickly and the classrooms were back in use.' The vandals used bricks to break the windows and also tried to prise open a velux window, smashing another one in the process. This is the second time the school has been attacked in three years, after a group of teenagers caused £30,000 worth of damage in 2006. If anyone has any information on the incident, you can contact Callington Police Station on 01579 382352 or call the Crimestoppers number.
