The cavy (guinea pig) section at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show has been selected to host not one, but two prestigious club shows.

In addition to the usual 2-star National Cavy Club show classes the section will also host the Western Area Fanciers Cavy Club and Dutch Cavy Club South Western Area stock shows.

The Western Area Fanciers Cavy Club covers a vast area that runs from Pembrokeshire in West Wales across to Herefordshire and down through the rest of the South West region to Cornwall.

It’s the first time the show has hosted one of the club’s six annual stock shows. The rosettes and trophies that will be awarded are highly sought after. Points scored at the shows also count towards the annual category championships, so competition is expected to be hot.

The Dutch Cavy Club (DCC) was founded more than one hundred years ago and has a long and distinguished history in cavy fancying circles.

The Royal Cornwall Show takes place on June 8, 9 and 10. To find out more please visit www.royalcornwall.co.uk.
