Comedy couple Lenny Henry and Dawn French have splashed out on a £2.4m seafront home in the area. Lenny, 48, and Dawn, 49, have snapped-up Point Neptune – a stunning Grade II listed house in Fowey. The home was on the market for £2.3million but the couple put in a higher bid to secure the sale after falling in love with the property. Overlooking the harbour and Readymoney Cove the home has lush terraced gardens and stunning views out to sea. With a large private balcony the white-bricked 19th century house overlooks a small beach where author Daphne Du Maurier once lived. The property was built in 1865 and is currently split into four flats – with the previous owners renting out two as holiday lets while living in the remaining two. Other celebrities who have homes in the area include Gloria Hunniford, Richard and Judy, Cliff Richard and former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis. Dawn's mother already has a home in nearby Looe. It is believed the Vicar of Dibley star – who was born 30 miles away in Plymouth – and her husband are moving to Cornwall permanently from their current home in Berkshire. A spokesman for May, Whetter and Grose, who handled the sale, described the home as 'spectacular'. He said: 'Point Neptune is considered one of the finest and most imposing properties in Fowey with views over the natural harbour and the open sea.'
