The Eden Project will provide the backdrop for the top children’s television series Andy’s Safari Adventures, which starts today.
Eden – known as Safari World in the programme – will appear in each of the 40 episodes of the CBeebies series as the base for TV star Andy Day as he introduces his viewers to some amazing animals.
Andy works at Safari World, the biggest and best safari park on the planet, with his boss, Mr Hammond, and his tech wizard assistant Jen, who monitors all the animals from the control tower.
The first episodes see Andy learning about chipmunks, meerkats and shoebills. Andy uses his safari-mobile to travel to places including Canada, the Kalahari Desert and Zambia.
The sequences featuring Eden were shot over three days last May, with the Biomes, outdoor gardens and other Eden buildings being transformed into Safari World using computer-generated imagery (CGI).
The series is produced by the BBC’s prestigious Natural History Unit, based in Bristol.
Andy’s Safari Adventures begins today at 5.20pm on CBeebies.
Episodes will be available to watch on the BBC iPlayer after broadcast.
