POLICE attended an accident in which a lorry carrying a mobile cabin demolished a telegraph pole.

Eyewitnesses said the lorry and its wide load also hit several trees in the incident between St Ive and Quethiock.

A lowloader lorry, operated by Anderson's Boat Transport, was transporting a cabin which was around 10 feet wide.

Resident Sarah Angier, who manages an office near the scene of the accident, witnessed the incident on Wednesday.

Sarah said she was just about to take her son to his nursery when she saw an escort driver approaching. She reversed her van out of the way but then saw the lorry and its load hit a hedge.

Sarah said: 'The lorry took out part of the hedge and our telegraph pole – it's taken out our business line and broadband. It was a bit of a shock for us because the pole landed a couple of feet in front of the van. It could have been a lot nastier. If I hadn't reversed back further when I heard the lorry coming, the telegraph pole might have landed on our van, and it would have been right where my son was sitting.'
