From yesterday (Thursday) smoking has been banned on all First Great Western trains.
The company announced on the day following national 'No Smoking' day that people travelling on main line Intercity services, such as that between Penzance and Paddington, London will no longer be able to smoke anywhere in the trains. The decision was taken following independent market research - and the company said the aim is to provide a more pleasant and healthier travelling environment. Anyone continuing to smoke on a train will be asked to extinguish their cigarette, cigar or pipe, or may be required to leave the train.
