A town council has set up an emergency fund to assist groups as they rally to support their community through the coronavirus crisis.
Liskeard Town Council is offering grants of between £50 and £500, and in the case of an exceptional application, a grant of up to £5000 could be made.
Applications are welcomed from community groups, social enterprises, trusts and charities and will only be given to non-profit making organisations.
’We particularly welcome applications from several groups working together,’ said the Town Council.
’If we receive similar things from different groups we may ask you to coordinate your efforts.’
To support the delivery of frontline services to those facing isolation and need, grants can be paid against the normal operating costs of an organization - things like wages, rents and stock.
It is expected that the money will be used during the Coronavirus outbreak and it must be used within two years of being awarded.
The first batch of applications will be discussed on Wednesday and forms should be returned by Tuesday. The Council will then continue to accept applications.
