Looe town councillors have been cleared of any misconduct following an investigation into allegations including misuse of position and failing to declare various interests. Looe resident Katrina Ring filed a complaint to Cornwall Council about Looe mayor Michael Joy and councillors Jimmy Dingle, Kim Smith, Martin Gregory, Barbara King, David Bryan, David Welch, Brian Galipeau and Armand Toms.
It was referred by an assessment sub-committee of the standards committee for investigation in July 2009. Standards for England completed its investigation on January 13 and the ethical standards officer found that there had been no failure to comply with the council's code of conduct.
Looe Town Council has welcomed the findings.
