THIS year's Callington Honey Fair – the 27th since its re-establishment – is set for Wednesday October 5. This year, to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the theme for this year's fair is 'All at Sea' and this will be used for both the shop window and the children's art exhibition. Continuing the nautical theme will be Liskeard Model Society, which will transform the council chamber with an exhibition of model ships. The town hall will be used during the day for the honey, with the annual competition sitting beside products on sale. Also in the hall, honey cream teas will be provided by members of Callington Lions Club. During the day, the town's community college will be providing musical items and also putting on an exhibition of college achievements. The town's churches will be involved during the day, with exhibitions while refreshments will be available at St Mary's Church and the Methodist Chapel. To complete the day, the town band will play in the square from 7-8pm, with the church bells ringing for an hour afterwards. All money raised by the evnt will be distributed between Lions' charities throughout the year.
