A total of 269 crosses will be placed in the Garden of Remembrance in Elliot Square, Torpoint, tomorrow.

Each cross will bear the name of a serviceman or woman or a civilian from the town who has been killed as a result of conflicts.

Torpoint Royal British Legion chairman Joe Plant said that the last person known to have been killed was Corporal Roger Goad.

"He was in the Ordnance Corps and was killed trying to diffuse an IRA bomb in London in 1975," said Mr Plant.
