HELEN Barker from Cawsand is one of the 1,500 service personnel drafted into RAF St Mawgan on a five-week deployment. Helen Barker has been in the RAF for 15 months and works as a catering steward. She was educated at Torpoint school, and after taking her GCSE's and A levels she had a gap year, before joining the RAF last year. Helen is normally stationed at RAF Wittering, and the service personnel have been drafted from over 40 stations and units across the entire RAF, as part of one of the UK's largest training exercises 'Cornish Titan'. To house this temporary force, a tented city has been created and includes Field Kitchens, Medical Centre, Engineering Resources and the Administration necessary to enable the unit to operate independently in such austere conditions.
