CORNWALL is being given another year to carry out a review of local government.

The Boundary Commission has given Cornwall Council more time to undertake a ‘fundamental review’.

The council had been told to report on electoral boundaries, and how many councillors it should have (there are 123 now) by March, 2016, but will now have until March, 2017 to complete the work.

The extension was granted because the council said it wanted to look more deeply into the future of local government.

Residents will be consulted about the conclusions in 2017. Changes should be in place by the 2021 elections.
