March was a wonderful month in South East Cornwall with all the spring flowers appearing. But the weather also brought out the people who seem determined to ruin the countryside.
It may sound improbable but somebody, or perhaps several people, regularly bag up their rubbish in neat carriers and sling it from the car to land amongst the primroses along the road between Torpoint and Trerulefoot. And other people, presumably gardeners who like it to be nice and tidy, take their big black gabs of leaves, branches and clippings out to the countryside and dump them at a lay-by. Why don't they empty it out into the hedge, and save the bags if they really can't afford for Caradon to collect it. And dog walkers who feel that dog faeces shouldn't be left on the pavement or road but if there isn't a bin drop it in little plastic bags on the verge or even worse throw them so they're festooned in the hedges. And this is in addition to the regular fly tippers who prefer to drive out to a local beauty spot to dump rubble, an old mattress or fridge rather than ring the council to have it taken away.
Is there anything that can be done, I wonder, to persuade people to dispose of their rubbish in a more considerate way.
