This week we’re again bringing you the great local news stories and pictures you’ll only find in your latest edition of the Cornish Times, on sale from today.

- This week’s paper is celebrating the diamond anniversary of the opening of the Tamar Bridge on October 24, 1961, with a five-page special feature. It includes Saltash’s commemorations for the 60th anniversary of the passing of the old Saltash ferry service on the night before the bridge opened; veteran reporter Audrey Miller’s recollections of the building of the bridge, the Queen Mother’s visit to open it, and Audrey’s memories of climbing to the top of the bridge towers on two occasions (the first time without any safety equipment!); our new reporter Scarlett Hills Brooks’ words and amazing pictures about today’s view from the top of the towers; and interviews with those involved in operating and revealing the heritage of this essential piece of transport infrastructure through the Bridging the Tamar centre.

- Another special feature of the latest Cornish Times is a three-page Callington College Prom picture special, with photographer Paul Hamlyn’s shots showing dozens of glamorous students in all their evening-wear finery.

- We also lead with members of Deviock Parish Council and local conservationists explaining to the Cornish Times why it is so important for them to bid for a wetland wildlife haven at the mouth of the River Seaton when it goes under the hammer tomorrow (Thursday) and why they are urging people to contribute to their Crowdfunder appeal in support of the bid.

- In addition we tell the dramatic story of a flying instructor who has been credited with single-handedly saving light aircraft totalling around £1m in value after a fire broke out at Bodmin Airfield.

Also in this week’s packed newspaper:
