The show must go on – even if it's only a film of the show!
The pantomime Rumpelstiltskin, presented by the Leading Lights Group, ran into trouble in the village of North Hill.
The first two shows went well despite one of the leading characters, the Prince played by Tracy Beale, having to use a crutch on stage because of a broken bone in her foot.
But disaster struck when Joyce Taylor, who was providing the musical accompaniment, broke her arm. To add to the group's woes, a poorly dog in need of urgent treatment meant four members of the cast would also be unavailable.
The decision was taken to cancel the final performance, a Saturday matinee.
However, since the second performance had been filmed it was agreed that a film show should be staged on the Saturday night instead to avoid disappointment.
Cast members turned out in their costumes and mingled with the audience.
