for Juniors

ON Saturday November 3, East Cornwall Tennis centre are inviting all interested young people to come along to a special Junior Tennis Squad Day.

The event, to be held at the indoor tennis dome at Callington Community College, will give youngsters the opportunity to find out about local year-round tennis facilities and to be allocated places in junior squads for coaching and matches.

Different age groups will be assessed and given places according to their experience and ability at the following times: ages 7 & under 9:30 - 10:30am; 7-9 years 10:30 - 11:30 am; 9-12 years 11:30am- 12:30pm; 12 years+ 12:30 - 1:30pm. Those who join will be offered professional coaching, plenty of opportunities to play tennis with others and the chance to improve their skills and tactics all year round as they progress through the squads.

Thanks to the winning combination of indoor tennis facilities at the new dome and dedicated Coach/Tennis Development Officer Carlos Caldeira, membership at the Centre is booming, some courses have been oversubscribed and talk is of expansion, to cater for East Cornwall's tennis needs. There are plans for a good clubhouse to serve the Tennis Centre, whilst four outdoor floodlit courts for Club use should be completed by Easter 2002.
