A MEETING will be held to discuss a ten-year traffic control plan in Callington. The subject of speed limits were discussed at this week's town council meeting after further correspondence was received on speeds on Liskeard Road from Cornwall County Council. Councillor Andrew Long said that whoever was to decide what happened concerning traffic control on Liskeard Road, that they should avoid putting in speed bumps. He instead suggested putting 'kinks' in the road to slow down cars. Mention was also given to two other roads in the town. Councillor Chris Thomas said that there were problems with parking near Callington health centre and asked people not to park near there. Councillor Richard Lumley, who said that within the last 18 months there had been at least serious two accidents on Launceston Road, suggested that the council should look at speed restrictions within the whole of the town and be more proactive on the subject. The town's county councillor Tony Nettle said that a speed monitor would soon be in place on Liskeard Road and suggested the meeting be discussed on next month's agenda, allowing more time for data to be made available. The council agreed to this action.
