With Remembrance Day so near to mind, can I encourage other readers to support service personnel on current operational duties? We all see in the news how costs are rising for those working for our country abroad, including personal insurance premiums, and their families are often having to pay to post the basic necessities of life to their loved-ones. There is a website which details the work of British Forces' Post Office (BFPO) at http://www.bfpo.mod.uk">www.bfpo.mod.uk or perhaps readers who are interested could contact local Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force establishments to see what they can do. I hope some local units will update the Cornish Times to give further details of how we can do something positive, other than just watching events unfold when those in the field (or air or on/under the sea) often feel neglected. There are free package services to some locations but these need to be sent to a named individual. Also readers would need to check what is required. The old-fashioned bluey (special letter) would also be nice – no cost usually, just adding your support. But watch it, I have to warn you that as an ex-Army wife, that's how I met my husband! Another benefit would be the use of our local post offices and, of course, proof to postal workers that their efforts are also appreciated.
