Dobwalls resumed league action with a home game against arch rivals Polkerris. The game kicked off at a breakneck speed with both sides creating early chances.
It was the home side who opened the scoring in the ninth minute as Kane Wilson converted Adam Nance's cross from the right. Shortly afterwards Wilson latched onto a long ball, beat the Polkerris defence and shot past the keeper only to see his shot creep past the post. Dobwalls then went two goals to the good, Phil Benney driving the ball home after a prolonged goalmouth scramble. With Dobwalls looking the better side Polkerris got back into the game on the half hour with a well taken goal from the edge of the box. The home side restored their two goal cushion within a minute after Kane Wilson was bundled over in the box and Matt Lindsay converting the penalty. Just before half time Polkerris made it 3-2 after Dobwalls had failed to clear.
The second half saw Polkerris take the initiative, mounting attack after attack, with the home side finding it difficult to get out of their own half. 10 minutes in, Polkerris equalised with a 20 yard lobb. Polkerris continued to press forward but the Dobwalls back four and an inspired performance from keeper Sam Lovelock prevented them taking the lead.
In the 70th minute Polkerris were awarded a penalty, however Lovelock was equal to the challenge and saved at the foot of the post. This inspired the rest of the Dobwalls team and they began to claw their way back into the game, however with only a minute to go Polkerris took the lead as fatigue took hold of the Dobwalls defence. In time added on and just when all looked lost Dobwalls mounted one last attack, pushed the ball out wide to Phil Benney who advanced on goal and shot powerfully under the body of the Polkerris keeper. This was the queue for wild celebrations amongst the Dobwalls ranks as they knew that this goal had kept alive their title hopes.
