ONE year on from the first lockdown, students and staff at Looe Community Academy took a moment to reflect on the past year.
They wrote their thoughts and aspirations on different-coloured post-it notes, and after each “post-it of hope” was added to the display, it created a giant rainbow, which is now on the wall in the school’s dining hall, so that everyone can see and read it.
Headteacher Scott Yalden said: “It was important for us all to reflect on the challenges of this past year, which has impacted quite differently on each member of our learning community, but equally we could not dwell on the past and really needed to look forward with optimism, so we decided to share our hopes and aspirations for what the future will bring.
“It was quite emotional for everybody reading it.
“We will now start planning a more permanent memorial of the COVID era, and we are looking forward to our students working with local artists and craftspeople on a fitting piece for our grounds."
