Hopes Dobwalls had reaching the cup final were dashed at the last hurdle. In previous League games Dobwalls had drawn and beaten St Stephens but in this encounter it was their opponents who came out on top.

Kicking up the hill in the first half Dobwalls went one down in the first 15 minutes but later M Lindsay scored his 20th goal of the season to square matters. But Dobwalls found it hard kicking up the slope and were soon trailing 3-1. Before half time T Powell spotted the 'keeper off his line and from outside the box lobbed the ball into the net for Dobwalls' second. But before the break St Stephens had scored again to lead 4-2.

The second half saw Dobwalls battle hard with S Ruark cutting the gap to 4-3. But again St Stephens added another and from a free kick made it 6-3. In between M Dunstan came up from defence to head in from a corner only to find his effort had been disallowed for offside.
