Wadebridge Town 2 Liskeard Athletic 4 Liskeard'S good form continued with this victory at Wadebridge in heavy conditions. The game marked the return of Adie Walton for his first run out as a substitute since breaking a bone in his foot against Saltash United almost 10 weeks ago. Wadebridge adapted better to the conditions and took the lead when Nick Daly ran on to a through ball to score past goalkeeper Nick Carpenter. Liskeard responded immediately and straight from the kick off Darren Shepherd struck the ball into the far corner of the net for the equaliser. Two minutes later and Craig Walton latched on to a through ball, slipped past a desperate challenge and beat the onrushing goalkeeper to the ball to curl it into the far corner of the net. Wadebridge came out for the second half determined to make amends, but it was the Blues who got the all-important third goal when Walton ran on to a through ball to score his second. Neil Mullis made it 4-1 when he reacted quickly to a loose ball during a goalmouth scramble Liskeard manager Martyn Hodge took the opportunity to bring on Adie Walton for the final 20 minutes and he went close on a couple of occasions. With 15 minutes to go Wadebridge scored again when the Liskeard defence lost concentration, Adam Billing giving away a penalty which Mike Retter converted. Manager Hodge has been delighted with the form of goalkeeper Nick Carpenter since he signed from Foxhole. 'With Lee Brown uspended for 35 days I had to decide to get someone in and Nick wasn't getting a game at Foxhole. 'If it was 14 days I could have got someone in for a couple of games but 35 is too long and Nick became available.' Hodge was also pleased to welcome back Adie Walton. 'I gave him 20 minutes and he could have scored twice. 'He's obviously rusty and needs a few games to get up to speed but he did well,' said Hodge. Liskeard receive Torpoint Athletic on Saturday, who are themselves in good form. 'I know they have just had three good results so we won't be taking them lightly,' said Hodge. It's been an indifferent start to the season for Liskeard who are still coming to terms with manager Hodge's clear out of last season's team and the influx of the new players.
