A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl from Torpoint has taken part in the World Street Dance Championships in Blackpool, just 12 months after joining Plymouth dance group City Kidz.
Emily Hargrave, who is a pupil at Carbeile Junior School, has been training twice a week with seven other dancers at Rhythm City Studios.
Following their high placings in the South West Championships in Exeter and the Southern Region Finals in Reading earlier this year, City Kidz went through to the World Championships to compete against teams in the under-10s newcomers category from 17 other countries, including Africa, Canada, Russia and Holland.
City Kidz came second, beaten by another British group from the Wirral.
Emily said of the competition at the Windsor Gardens, Blackpool: 'I was very nervous, but it was really exciting.'
Her mum Helen added: 'We are so proud of her to all of a sudden take off like this. Since joining Rhythm City, her confidence has really grown.'
Emily is already back in training getting ready for the Welsh Championships in November.
