Please could you bring to the attention of your readers, that the stone cross which stood on The Ridge, East Moor in the parish of North Hill has now been restored. The head of the cross was broken off in September 1999.

The latin cross was allegedly erected early in the 20th century, in memory to a lady who died as a result of a riding accident. The monument had been previously clamped together with external iron brackets, along with a central pin. The iron-work has subsequently corroded, and cattle are often seen using the stone as a rubbing-post and it is presumed that they were responsible for the damage.

On Friday 7th January the cross-head was re-fixed with stainless-steel pins by St Tudy stonemason Ernie Hillson assisted by David Atwell of North Cornwall Heritage Coast & Countryside Service and Mike Millard of Launceston.

If any of your readers know the identity of the lady who was tragically killed there, the exact date when the cross was erected, or if they have heard about another reason for the cross? I would be very pleased to hear from them.
