The members of Looe Valley U3A are considering erecting a 'Sight Stone' as a permanent memorial to the new Millennium and are seeking public support for the idea.

The stone would be erected on The Wooldown, with the permission of East Looe Town Trust, and would be made of local stone by Cornish craftsmen. A plaque on the top would have arrows pointing to different locations, a similar idea to the one at Kit Hill.

To help with the fundraising for such a venture the Valley U3A would like to invite Looe residents to place small capsules of family history they would like to be read in 200 years' time, inside the stone itself which is to be hollowed out. There would be a small charge of about £5. Mrs Olive Crick (01503 240451) or Mrs Freda Murray (01503 265651) would like to hear from people about whether or not they think a 'Sight Stone' would be a good idea for Looe.
