An impressive 1930s LMS Pacific locomotive will be heading from Bristol to Par in Cornwall on Sunday at the head of the ‘Royal Duchy’ special excursion.

The Duchess of Sutherland was originally built to haul expresses like The Royal Scot up the West Coast Mainline from London Euston to Glasgow, in competition with the LNER’s Flying Scotsman on the London King’s Cross to Edinburgh route.

She will be leaving Plymouth around 12.45pm and heading down the mainline to Par. She will then leave Par at 17.45pm to return to Bristol. There are many good places along the line to see her and get photos including Liskeard, St Germans and Saltash stations.
