AN ENGLAND shirt signed by footballing legends Wayne Rooney, John Terry and Frank Lampard will bring a boost to young players.

A fundraising auction has been organised to benefit the Torpoint Youth Football Club.

Among the lots is a shirt signed by members of the 2007 England squad, a signed photograph of Gareth Bale, and a pennant signed by the Plymouth Argyle team.

Behind the event is Richard Austin, who as grand primo of the East Cornwall Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), has chosen the youth footballers as his charitable cause this year. Richard has spent the past six months writing to a number of football clubs, including premier league teams - and in return he has received a haul of desirable items of memorabilia, all set to go under the hammer next week.

Chairman of the Torpoint Youth Football Club Steve Foster said: ‘We are very grateful to have been selected as this year’s charity.

‘We hope football fans get behind this auction and are generous with their bids. Richard’s efforts and the money raised will continue to support our thriving club with teams of local boys and girls from U11s to U18s.’

The shirts and photos have been framed by Mike Ferguson of Rame Framing in Antony. Mike is also treasurer for Torpoint Youth Football Club and will be the auctioneer for the evening.

All are invited to take part and bid on the night. Alternatively, bid can be registered online by contacting [email protected] with your full name, address and telephone number, the number of the lot you are interested in bidding for, and your maximum bid.

A full catalogue of items to be auctioned will will placed on the RAOB Facebook page.

The Torpoint Youth Football Club charity auction will take place at Torpoint Chambers of Commerce on Saturday April 28 from 7pm.
