St Mellion by-pass a priority

In support of Mike Crowle's letter in last week's Cornish Times, I should like to make the following observations.

All residents have a right to live in safety. The new roads built on either side of the village of St Mellion are treated as a racetrack by many motorists. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed. This means that the current level of housing and associated population merits a by-pass without any further expansion taking place.

American Golf and Beazer Homes should be told firmly but politely that not a single brick of a single new house will be laid on the golf club development until the St Mellion by-pass has been opened.

Unfortunately, in the past, our District councillors, with a few notable exceptions including Roy Levack, have shown a woeful inability to stand up for St Mellion residents when faced with the might of big business interests.

Now is their chance to put that right. Come on Caradon District Council, are you mice or men?
